Ulhasnagar friends circle Sanstha, famous known as U.F.C Group. This group was formed in 1994. The group has come into the limelight because of the huge turnout of Ganesh Bakhts at their Ganesh Mandal for 2007 years. The group which started with 12 members is now a 139-member family. The love and devotion towards Lord Ganesha continue to bring more people together. This group has recently registered itself as Ulhasnagar Friends Circle Group Sanstha, with the purpose to undertake greater social causes with the blessing of Lord Ganesha.

Ganpati, which means “The Lord of Hosts”; (“Gan” = army, “Ish” = god). Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most popular Hindu festivals. This is the birthday of Lord Ganesha. It is the day most sacred to Lord Ganesha. It falls on the 4th day of the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada (August-September). It is also called Vinayaka Chaturthi. It is observed throughout India, as well as by devoted Hindus in all parts of the world. Lord Ganesha is the elephant-headed God. He is worshipped first in any prayers. His Names are repeated first before any auspicious work is begun; before any kind of worship is begun.

“O lord with the twisted trunk, with the effulgence of a billion suns, always remove the obstacles when I am on an auspicious undertaking.” This small prayer is chanted before starting anything auspicious. This prayer invokes Lord Ganesha to remove all obstacles (vighna) which normally come our way when we start any new work. Thus, he is also called Vighnaharta or Vighneshwara.

Ganesha`s head symbolizes the Atman or the soul, which is the ultimate supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifies Maya or the earthly existence of human beings. The elephant head denotes wisdom and its trunk represents Om, the sound symbol of cosmic reality. In his upper right hand, Ganesha holds a goad, which helps him propel mankind forward on the eternal path and remove obstacles from the way. The noose in Ganesha`s left hand is a gentle implement to capture all difficulties.

The broken tusk that Ganesha holds like a pen in his lower right hand is a symbol of sacrifice, which he broke for writing the Mahabharata. The rosary in his other hand suggests that the pursuit of knowledge should be continuous. The laddoo (sweet) he holds in his trunk indicates that one must discover the sweetness of the Atman. His fan-like ears convey that he is all ears to our petition. Vasuki, the snake that runs round his waist represents energy in all forms. And, he is humble enough to ride the lowest of creatures, a mouse.

He is the Lord of power and wisdom. He is the elder brother of Skanda or Kartikeya. He is the energy of Lord Shiva and so He is called the son of Shankar and Umadevi. By worshiping Lord Ganesha, mothers hope to earn for their sons the sterling virtues of Ganesha. In fact, Ganesha is one of the five prime Hindu deities (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Durga being the other four) whose idolatry is glorified as the panchayatana puja. Few legends are prevalent concerning Ganesha&rsquos birth.
